What is CoolSculpting® ?

Straight from the USA, Coolsculpting® is a patented device created in 2008. Based on the principle of cryolipolysis, Coolsculpting allows you to tighten up localized fat deposits without surgery.

CoolSculpting®, also known as cryolipolysis, freezes fat cells and breaks them down. In the original CoolSculpting® machine, fat is pulled between two plates using a vacuum, which makes the area hot enough to freeze the fat rather than the skin, destroying only the fat cells in a process called apoptosis. The frozen fat cells are eventually removed from the body.

Both CoolSculpting® and CoolSculpting® Elite are suitable for people whose body weight is no more than 30 kg from their ideal weight and who have a healthy lifestyle. 4) Improved safety

This new patented technique reduces any potential bruising in treated areas. Compression can interrupt oxygen supply to the treated adipose tissue and cause paradoxical adipose tissue hyperplasia (ATH), in which the treated area may harden and swell rather than shrink. This side effect has occurred in about 1 in 4,000 Coolsculpting® procedures over the past decade. Usually PAG responds well to Kybella or liposuction treatments, but these corrective procedures can cause side effects. We have so far reported no cases of PAH with the new Coolsculpting® Elite system and expect this very rare side effect to be much less common due to the reduced pressure on the treated tissue.
